Black Sheep Bring Witty Hip-Hop to The Wolf December 20th
The Queens hip-hop duo known for early '90's hits like "The Choice is Yours" return with their first new album in twelve years.
Black Sheep sold one million copies of their debut album, influenced Wyclef, Outkast, and The Roots, and formed The Jungle Posse with De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest, but most don't recognize their place in hip-hop until the lyrics from their 1992 hit "The Choice is Yours" are uttered: "You can get with this/Or you can get with that."
The hip-hop duo from Queens is known for their clever lyrics and funky beats. They debuted in 1991 and recently released their first album in twelve years, "8WM/NOVAKANE." They charted three times on the Billboard Hot Dance Music/Club Play Chart in 1992 with "Flavor of the Month," "Strobelite Honey" and "The Choice is Yours. Black Sheep were one of the first hip-hop groups to parody gangsta rap, with "U Mean I'm Not," and on the new album they take on the mindless call and response lyrics in some modern hip-hop with "U Mean I Don't."
Opening for Black Sheep is Impulss and Media Darlings, which is an all-star cast of local hip-hop artists.
